What’s Your Story - Part 2

I love doing “part 2s.”

Maybe its because I feel like a slacker blogger and so when I can get on a theme, its easier for me to blog consecutive days. My friends tell me all the time that I need to write a book. I think it’s because of my teaching/preaching style - outlinish, methodical, etc. But man, writing is hard work. Maybe I’ll do a blog series called “Confessions of a (Slacker) Blogger.”

I’ve been reading through 1 Samuel and keep going back to the story of Hannah. Just been super inspired by her story. Thinking about preaching a series on it. Talk about a plot. Read the first two chapters of 1 Samuel. Check it out. I know it wasn’t exciting for Hannah while she was in the middle of it. Hannah’s story went on “year after year” (1 Samuel 1:7). Everyone has a story…or two or three. Been thinking about some of our closest friends, Pete and Kristi Sciacchetano (we call them the Shacks). They wanted to have children. They got all geared up and ready and then she had a miscarriage. And another. They had 5 miscarriages. You can imagine how difficult that was. But they kept believing God. One weekend we had a staff retreat and the guy that was ministering laid hands on them and prophesied, “I see a boy and a girl.” He didn’t know their story. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Now they have two beautiful kiddies - a boy and a girl. What a story.

I’m headed to Sydney for the Hillsong Conference. That will make for a good series! More from Sydney tomorrow.
