Take a breath…

This is what I’m telling myself in the midst of a super busy few weeks. I was in New Orleans on Monday night to watch my friend Kevin Mawae and the Titans slam the Saints. Monday Night Football games are great. Everyone is on fire because Monday night games are so big, etc. Being from Louisiana, it was a little sad to see the Saints go 0-3 after such a great season last year, but living in Tennessee (and having big Kev as a friend), it was awesome to see the Titans pull in another W.

On Tuesday we did some Go Global brainstorming with the team at HPC for our 2008 projects and trips. My great friend Dino Rizzo and I spent 4 or 5 hours together hashing through church stuff. Then, on Tuesday night I attended the LSU Hall of Fame Dinner to see Kevin Mawae get inducted. It was incredible to see Billy Cannon, Bob Petit, Tommy Cassanova, Rudy Mac, and so many other LSU greats do the walk of honor right in front of us. Then to see Kevin get inducted. He gave a great speech. I was proud to know him. It was a killer night.

Flew back on Wednesday in time for our Wednesday night service. I started a new teaching theme last night called “Moving Your Life Forward” from Psalm 84. I think we’ll spend the month of October in this Psalm both on Wednesday nights and Sundays. I believe God wants to speak to our church through some of the thoughts found in that great Psalm. Read through it when you get the chance.

A lot of people have asked about the Good Morning America interview. The interview itself went great, but who knows how it’s going to be edited and portrayed. I’ve been praying that God will be honored and lifted up and that people would get to the website and find forgiveness and a relationship with Jesus. They said they would let us know when it airs so I’ll give you the heads up. The “End the Secret” series ends this weekend. We’re still getting great feedback like this…

Hello Pastor John,
I just wanted to let you know how much of a blessing it has been to be at The Life Church. My wife and I really enjoy the services and have never been in a church that has made us feel so welcomed. So we just wanted to let you know how much Life Church has meant to us. I wanted to know if you were going to have the endthesecret website after September? I know that the series will be over but I think the website should continue. I believe the website has been an outlet for so many people and that might be their only way to get from under comdemnation and into freedom. I have even confessed some things in my life and it has helped me as well. I think it is truly outside the box to have a website like this and I would hope that it will continue.

We’ve got an incredible weekend ahead with Nancy Alcorn, but more about that later.
