Emil Kundig

Had a cool experience today. After an incredible 3 days of ministry in Battambang, Mundo and I began our journey home. We flew in a little Cessna six seater operated by Missionary Aviation Fellowship. MAF is an awesome network of missionary pilots around the world who fly other missionaries in and out of remote places that are either inaccessible or so remote it would take hours/days to reach them over land or by boat.

Our pilot was a great guy named Emil. He’s an incredibly fit, waste-no-time, little Swiss guy with a huge smile. He’s been flying for MAF for 23 years. He was in Africa for 19 years (Chad, Uganda, and Madagascar) and he’s been in Cambodia for the last 4 years. He and his wife Margaret raised their four children on the mission field and now his oldest son is joining MAF as well. He told us how critical it is to be able to get into these remote areas, especially when a missionary kid gets sick. Right when he said it, I thought of my own little kiddies, Anna and Mark (who I miss big time), and I thought of how helpless I would feel to be out in the bush and have one of them get really sick. How incredible it would be to see Emil’s smiling face! In just the 2 hours that we were with him, I was convicted by his life and the call that he and his family have said yes to in order to serve others.
