We had an awesome day in Battambang today as we started our weekend of ministry. We started with some painting and hang time at the orphanage I mentioned last time. We painted and had fun playing with the kids. It’s great to be on the trip with one of my closest friends, Dino Rizzo. He pastors Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge. I’ve learned so much from him…the way he takes care of his friends, his huge love for hurting people, his heart for the poor. At the end of the morning, we were sitting together, talking and hanging out and all these sweet little kids were running around with their stickers and suckers, sitting on our laps and they were so happy. Dino told me about a quote he had read from Mother Teresa that said something to the effect of - if you can just alleviate a little of their pain for just a few minutes, you’ve made a difference (if you know the exact quote, let me know).
I love that. Sometimes we make things too complicated. All the effort and cost of getting here, the people and things we left behind…it was worth it to bring some fun and love to those kids today.

I’m glad you and the Rizz working and hanging together. It makes my heart full to see all the good that is being accomplished so far by Hope:Cambodia. Reading the blogs from “Lifers” and “HPCers” is especially cool for me now that I have a clue as to who some of the people are there in memphis. I got to tell you, I’m liking the scruff. Maybe that’s a look you need to bring back to the states with you!
