Yesterday we had our first ever Go Global Internship Director’s Roundtable. Around 35 people from 13 different States were in attendance and it was a great day of vision-casting, discussion and dreaming about what I believe are two of the biggest issues we need to focus on as a church - developing the next generation of emerging leaders and world missions. Some of the best emerging churches in the nation were represented at the roundtable, including Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge, LA; Celebration Church in Jacksonville, FL; Church of the Highlands in Birmingham, AL; New Life Church, Little Rock, AR; River Valley Church, Apple Valley, MN; Substance Church, St. Paul, MN; New Life Church, Colorado Springs, CO; Destiny Church, St. Louis, MO; Celebration Church, Austin, TX; Summit Church, Monument, CO; Oasis Church, Atlanta, GA; Church at Mirror Lake, Villa Rica, GA; James Island Christian Church, Charleston, SC; and the St. Louis Dream Center in St. Louis, MO. Most of these churches have ministry training/internship programs that are successfully producing some of the greatest Christian leaders the world has yet to see! Our own Damascus Road Ministry Internship has made a huge impact on our church and is the tool that God is going to use to fulfill the vision God has given us. Maybe the next step for you is surrendering your life to the call God has on your life. Click here if you’d like more info about Damascus Road.
We also introduced our first ever Overseas Medium-Term Experience. Maybe you’ve been through Damascus Road or some other local church ministry training school and you feel stirred about world missions but you’re not sure what to do next. We’re putting everything in place right now for anyone who wants an opportunity to spend 10-12 months on the mission field. In 2008, our focus will be in Africa, beginning with a couple of months of training in Nairobi, Kenya. This team will help establish Go Global’s Africa initiatives in Nairobi, as well as launch care points in other nations in Africa. Applications are being accepted now, and will be due July 15. If you’d like to know more about this opportunity, check out goglobalmissions.com, or email info@goglobalmissions.com.
I’d love to hear more about the Roundtable discussion, Pastor John… did this team talk about the biggest challenges facing these goals? Is there a way these various internships can work together/do joint marketing?
It seems that more and more families are seeing that taking a year off between high school and college is a good thing for their son or daughter. But are all the options today getting too overwhelming?
Peace!
