Take the Lead - 2
Continuing on with my theory that leadership begins with aspiration… I briefly mentioned last time that I’ve met too many people who are waiting on God to do something He’s waiting on them to do. I talk about this a lot because I think it’s one of those HUGE issues. There are too many great people sort of frozen, living below the level God wants them to live because they’re not ambitiously seeking, running after the opportunities that are right in front of them.
Here are a few My Part/God’s Part verses…
Ephesians 3:20 – Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.
God’s Part – “…him who is able to do immeasurably more…according to his power…”
My Part – “…all we ask or imagine…at work within us”
Philippians 3:12-13 - …continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
God’s Part – “works in” – God works in you to will (your decisions) and to act (your actions), according to His good purpose!
My Part – “work out” – God works it into us, but we have to work out our own salvation, our own course and path in life.
In really simplistic terms, think of it like a hamburger.
The top bun is God’s part, which is His power, calling and gifts. Our part is the bottom bun, which is aspiration and ambition (asking and imagining like it says in Ephesians 3:20). And right in between is the meat, which I believe represents opportunity and timing. When it’s all working together, it tastes good and our life keeps moving forward!
We can’t do God’s part. God won’t do our part.
