Busy Weekend

What an awesome weekend. I’ve got that “so tired I can’t rest” kind of feeling. Last week was a super busy week and then we just rolled right into a packed weekend that included a Damascus Road retreat, Weekend Services, and an interest party for the new campus we’re launching in Collierville. In between the retreat and the weekend services we watched LSU get whacked by Florida…Bummer.

Damascus Road Retreat – I think launching Damascus Road, our ministry internship program, might have been one of the most strategic things we’ve done in the last few years. We had 24 interns the first year and this year we’ve got 26 incredible interns. In church-life it is literally like having 26 additional staff members at every event and function. We went to a great retreat place an hour outside of Memphis and prayed, worshipped, talked about surrendering our lives to the cause…It was an incredible retreat. I love those guys and feel privileged as a pastor to have such great up and coming, young, sharp leaders. I love to be around them as much as I can.

Collierville Interest Party – We had 74 people packed into Steven and Lisa Mitchell’s house last night. There was quite a buzz and we’re definitely off to an awesome start. Collierville is about 30 minutes away from our present campus (which is in Cordova) and it’s an ideal area for us to launch another campus. I shared vision and talked about the next steps. I also introduced Greg and Kristin Evans, an awesome couple who will be serving as Campus Pastors in Collierville. Kristin has been a part of our church since the first service. She was the first full-time staff member outside of the original church-planting team and has been a great children’s pastor. She and Greg will continue to oversee Kids Life (our children’s ministry) for both campuses as well as oversee the Collierville campus.

My Church, The Life Church of Memphis, has won my heart. Thank you for DR. The love of my life is Jesus Christ. This week end was great!

I wish Memphis was a lot closer to Cleveland, TN so that I (and the rest of the Starlite girls!) could be a part of the internship program! I’ve heard about it during my visits and it sounds fantastic. Congrats on all that is happening with Collierville — can’t wait to see more plans unfold!
