Tonight I’m off to Africa - one of my favorite places! They say that once you go there, it gets in your heart and never goes away. That’s true for me for sure.

I’ll be preaching at Nairobi Lighthouse Church (my sending church), hanging out with my pastor and hero, Don Matheny. I’ll also tour Watoto Child Care Ministries in Uganda with Marilyn Skinner and lead a 2-day training with 500+ Kenyan Pastors. Casey Goff, Michael Norwood and I are a team and I’m looking forward to hanging out with those guys. Being with them is icing on the cake.

Several years ago I did a sermon series called “Go Global” and it sort of caught on as the quasi-name of our missions vision. I like the name because its not passive, yesterday, and stale. It’s a right now expression. In fact, it’s really more about a mentality, a spirit, a focus and passion than it is about location. Jesus first said it in Matthew 28:18-20, and we’re still running our race under that banner today. I think keeping a global perspective is a huge part of being a passionate follower of Christ.

Right now I’m in the Detroit Airport about to catch a flight to Amsterdam. I just grabbed some Chili’s and about to hit Starbucks real quick. It’ll be my last Grande, 2 pump White Mocha for 12 days!!!!!
