I’m back…I did confess that I wasn’t sure how I’d keep up with the blog…
We’ve had some wild weather in Memphis the last few weeks. Great opportunities to build a snowman, throw snowballs, tease your dog.
This past weekend Phil and Linda Stern were with us and we had a ball. The icy rain sort of killed our attendance, but they shared a great message about family. They’ve got 10 kids (I’ve written about their family in an earlier entry) so you tend to sit up and listen when they talk about parenting, marriage, family. The coolest thing is all of their kids are on track in their life with God, serving in God’s House. Pastor Phil shared an awesome verse that I’ve never seen before and I think its God’s promise to all of us with kids…
Psalm 144:12 - May our sons flourish in their youth like well-nurtured plants. May our daughters be like graceful pillars, carved to beautify a palace.
If you’re a mom or dad, I know that’s your heart for your kids! I’m speaking this over our kids (Mark and Anna). At the end of the second message this past Sunday, Phil gave a great word of prophecy to our church. It was about spiritual sons and daughters. I’m thankful that our church is positioned to reach the next generation – right now, young men and women are being raised up in our church to be world changers. That gets me up every morning and keeps me up at night! That’s what I live for, to be a church that is committed to the generations.
I’m using that verse in Psalms as a point of prayer at home and in church-life.
Man, if you don’t update this blog soon, I’m going to ban you from coming to Baton Rouge ever again. We all know it’s not snowing in Memphis right now! It’s been six months almost - take a new picture of your kids, for cryin’ out loud! Or are you planning on waiting until they start driving to post a new picture?
Come on, you can do it. There’s a blogger inside - you need to let it out.
